Brief:Concept Development and Business Plan in support of a new Watersports hub at Llys y Fran, Pembrokeshire

What was undertaken?

Alongside Blue Sail and Gillespies, Leisure INC was commissioned by Dwr Cymru to undertake a review of current facilities and opportunities for future development at Llys y Fran Water Park in Pembrokeshire, South Wales. The vision was to develop existing facilities into a significant hub of sports activity for visitors and local people and further the concept of the 'Great Welsh Water Park'.

The work centred on Llys y Fran’s feasibility and viability, together with a consideration of its market and competitive position and assess the business case for investment. A range of sporting, recreational and educational uses were explored, including wakeboarding, climbing, mountain biking, canoeing and sailing alongside emerging new adrenaline sports.

The outcome

The report crystallised the opportunities into a new concept and will subsequently make a compelling case for new investment to the Dwr Cymru Board.
